Bass fuzz has to be the sweetest thing ever. There is nothing like a tight bass line with fuzz driving it home. Our 4 Wheeler V2 will give you the ability to do everything from 60’s jam band to modern electronic fuzz. With Volume, Tone, Fuzz and a specially tuned Gate control, the ability to tweak away is at your fingertips. There is enough volume/headroom to shake any stage as well as drive your amp as hard as you would ever need. The tone and fuzz controls are super flexible with usable sweeps all the way around while the gate control can give you those much desired synth break-offs or just the right amount of jab for that perfect riff. The "deep" switch lets you go from a deeper more low end focused range of tones to the normal V1 settings.
Bass players are raving about it and guitar players even seem to love what it does to their tone so this may be the fuzz to fit the bill...
In the footsteps of the classic Marshall Gov’ner this monster was born. Just like its big brother Charlie Brown, the Angry Charlie is versatile, well rounded and full of tone but one thing sets them apart. This ones a little more Angry… If you want high gain Marshall tones reminiscent of a JCM-800, than this is the pedal for you.
The gain knob has an unbelievable range of overdrive to head-on heavy grind and the tone knob actually has a solid range unlike many distortions on the market. The additional presence knob adds a versatility and tweaking ability that transforms any amp into a fire breathing monster! Big classic distortion tones are what this box is all about. If you need a high gain but "realistic" sounding pedal than look no further!
With just a volume and range knob, you will be amazed by sounds from this one pedal. Paired with any tube amp, you have at your feet one of the most versatile tone shaping tools available.
The volume knob gives you more than enough headroom to easily drive your amp into natural breakup but the range knob is where the magic is found. When turned to the left 50% you have Rangemaster/Treble Booster tones, and to the right 50% you have full range boost tones in the ranks of a LPB-1 power booster. The placement of this pedal can yield vastly different results. When you run the pedal after your overdrive or fuzz, it projects exactly what it hears and sends it soaring above the mix. If you run it before your dirt boxes, you can force them into rich harmonic saturation that will cause a permanent smile on your face. Either way you choose, the result is a booster that does its job so well you may never turn it off.
Need to split your signal? Don’t want to settled for a passive device that will kill your tone and cause signal loss? This is what you need! This little box of magic takes your input signal and splits it into two always-on outputs that are buffered so you don’t loose clarity or tone in any way.
Here are some of the uses:
*Plug your guitar in and use one output to send your clean signal somewhere like a mixer, separate amp, etc... and send the other output through your board like normal.
*Use one output to send a constant signal to your tuner and the other for your normal chain. This can help you defeat those volume pedal “tuner out” horrors!
*Split your signal in any way you can imagine!
When Josh began working with Switchfoot’s Drew Shirley for his “Hello Hurricane” touring rig, the number one need was to have a single pedal that could do a lot of fuzz! The end result was the “Bunrunner 2 in 1”. On the left side you will find the JHS Astro Mess Fuzz and on the right side a heavily modified Tonebender that is oozing with germanium fuzz, warmth, character and fullness that is only found in the Bunrunner.
The Astro side gives you all the modern, gated and heavy fuzz you could ever use as well as 8 bit tones galore when needed. The Astro tilts it's hat to classic high gain fuzz pedals like the Ampeg Scrambler, Kay Fuzz and Octavia due to it's blistering amount of gain and volume on tap. Flip the "Gate" toggle up and find yourself splattering notes all over the place with style as the overal structures seems to beautifully fall apart under your pick attack. The Tonebender side is a real achievement in Tonebender style circuits, and it can do everything from Zeppelin riffs to lush natural overdrive with ease. The bias knob is very different than what is usually seen out there allowing big hefty overdrive drive tones all the way to a thick wall-of-fuzz heaven! You will also find that the tone control is actually useful and more of a tone shaping tool than a knob that removes harshness. When you add these two circuits together, you may find yourself playing things that you didn’t know your hands could play!
The controls for the Tonebender side are Volume, Tone, Fuzz and Bias while the “Astro Mess” side is identical to the single unit here. The new V2 has our Order Toggle switch so you can choose what circuit comes first when they are both on at the same time. Oh yea, the Tonebender is a true positive ground circuit but thanks to our Voltage reversal circuitry you can run this pedal on a normal 9v supply with your other pedals instead of some funky power supply like most germanium fuzz pedals out there!
Good examples of this pedal's tones are Switchfoot’s “Mess Of Me”, “The Sound” and most anything on the “Hello Hurricane album”. Check out those tracks at www.switchfoot.com
If you’ve ever heard an original Marshall JTM45 than you know why it’s the voice of classic Rock & Roll. The classic JTM45’s are loaded with warm, rich character that makes a Stratocaster sing and a Les Paul scream. Our Charlie Brown is voiced to transform any good amp into a living, breathing replica of the tone that built an era. After playing this pedal most people say, “Where has this been my whole life?”
With the gain below 50% it is a low grit overdrive that even Hendrix would be proud of. When you get into the upper half of the gain knob you will find a new world of natural, crunchy bite that just can’t be found anywhere else. Max it out and you will be in high gain, overdrive heaven. The Presence knob lets you roll of the perfect amount of shimmer for an unprecedented compatibility with almost any amp. This unit can cover a lot of ground and we can almost guarantee that you won’t be adding this one to your “unusable dirt box list” that you’ve accumulated over the years.
In 1961 a British engineer would start a company from a spare room in his England home that would permanently change the history of the Pro Audio industry. This company set a trajectory for musical tones that spanned across genres and impacted every generation that followed. We are talking about the infamous piece of gear known as the Neve* recording console. From "Love Me Do" by The Beatles to the famous sounds of Led Zeppelin, U2, Spoon, Pink Floyd, Motown, Quincy Jones, Nirvana, Steely Dan, Neil Young, Tears For Fears, and Tom Petty (the list is endless), The Colour Box is our tribute to the legend and application of how a piece of gear can change music.
Have you ever heard songs like the Beatles "Revolution", or Motown classics like Jackson 5, Marvin Gaye, or even the modern Radiohead's "Bodysnatchers" and thought, "How are they getting that guitar sound?" Well, the answer is sort of clothed in obscurity, but it's actually created by the simplest practical application......plugging a guitar directly into a vintage studio console and recording "direct in." The JHS Pedals Colour Box is designed and created to allow you to recreate these infamous guitar tones with your live rig, or in a studio environment by using 100% analog circuitry true to the design and schematic of vintage Neve* circuitry. The Colour Box is completely free from any digital modeling. Never before have "direct in" tones been available from your guitar amp in the way that the Colour Box delivers them. Aside from creating these "direct in" tones, the Colour Box covers all the ground that you would expect a high quality studio preamp to cover. From your microphone, bass, keyboard, or even your acoustic guitar, it does it all.
This is our "Everything low to medium gain" pedal. The Double Barrel is for the player who needs a versatile but transparent overdrive at medium and light gain levels. You won’t find face melting distortion here, but you will find overdrive with the character and stacking abilities to cover most any tonal need.
The right side is our JHS-808 with more usable tone control, more focused lows, better presence and warmer clipping than the original screamers on the market. With “Version 3” we added a three way gain switch to choose between saturated/boost/crunch. The left side is our #1 selling “Morning Glory” overdrive. Transparent, discreet and open are what lurk inside this circuit.
When these two circuits are stacked, something magic happens. Tones that are original and fresh come with ease, as well as added flexibility, due to the “order switching” toggle that lets you decide what pedal comes first in the signal chain.
We are convinced that this is one of the greatest 2 in 1 pedals ever made... Seriously. If your having problems getting the tones you want, just snatch the Double Barrel and see what happens!
Just like our discontinued Honey Comb Single, the Honey Comb Deluxe gives you true vintage analog tone and ease of operation that will open up a new pallet of sounds reminiscent of early Fender blackface and vintage Vox tremolo circuits from years gone by. The only difference is that this one has those over the top options for the more demanding trem-o-haoulic.
We start by giving you an extra LED for the rate speed that stays on even when the pedal is in bypass. This allows a constant monitor on your speed. The next thing we do is add a second footswitch that allows you to alternate between two independently controlled speed knobs! This is like having two tremolos in one enclosure. The knobs are located over a third LED that is always on as well. When the LED is red it means you have the red speed knob activated and when it’s green… You guessed it; you have the green knob activated.
On V2's you will see a small red switch inside the pedal on the circuit board. Flip this switch down for slower speed ranges or keep it up for the stock speed range.
This pedal requires standard 9V DC Negative power and measures 2.2"x4.3"x1.5"
Due to the popularity of our Pulp N Peel guitar compressor and a demand for a truly transparent and useful bass compressor, we bring you the “Lime Aid”. Dynamics, punch and clarity are a few of the things that this unit will bring to your tone. One of the main advantages of the compressor is the low end response and the ability to keep untouched, clean signal along side your compressed tone. Many players will see this as an enhancement more than a typical compressor. Others will see it as a boost that can drive your amp with a soft touch. However you use it, you will most likely never want to turn it off.
This pedal requires standard 9V DC Negative power and measures 2.2"x4.3"x1.5"
If your amp has a “send/return” effects loop simply connect the input to your SEND and the output to your RETURN. You can use the LBAB to saturate your preamp section and get some cranked tube tone at bedroom levels!
This pedal does not require power and it measures 3.6"x1.5"x1"
This may be the greatest weapon you didn’t know you needed.
For those of us who are a little “pedal happy” there can be some downfall to our tone. When running a pedal board with more than one or two effects pedals something called “capacitance” happens. This natural problem happens due to the amount of cable or line that you signal has to travel through, not to mention bad switching systems in certain pedals. The result is a very audible amount of high-end loss, weak signal, flabby bass and uncharacteristic pickup behavior in guitars. Another problem is the assumption that all “true bypass” is good. This isn’t true and actually can be worse than imagined.
This is were the “Little Black Buffer” steps in providing the perfect input impedance to your rig and giving you the final result of clear, natural tone that sounds like your plugged straight into your amp no matter how many pedals you use.
Plug your guitar straight into the input then out into your pedal chain. No need for a switch and it runs on any standard 9v supply.
A good solid A/B box can be a guitarists best friend. We make ours from a Hammond 1x3” metal enclosure with high quality jacks and switch. We also include a dual color (red/green) LED to let you know by sight if your using A or B. This is very practical in a live situation. Here are the best uses for our handmade Mini A/B.
- Choose between two amps on the fly
- Take your guitar tuner out of your signal chain
- Choose between two guitars with no unplugging of cables
- Mute your guitar instantly
- Anywhere you need to choose inputs or outputs, this box does the job!
A good booster is often the most underrated tool a guitarist can own. When placed before your overdrives or distortions, a thicker, stronger and more saturated tone can be achieved. When placed after, you get you exact tone except louder. This is great for lead passages and for causing your tube amp to naturally overdrive due to its huge amount of headroom. You will notice a slight touch of presence that lets your tone cut through the mix for those passages you want to stand out. Chords are heard with clarity and subtle harmonics shine! The Mini-Bomb JFET boost can do all this and at the same time only take up a 2x3” spot on your pedal board!
Small, ruthless and simple. 1” x 3” of pure classic fuzz that can melt even the most anti-fuzz activists heart. We believe this is one of the most shocking pedals you will ever play. Rich harmonics, massive headroom and thick fuzz/overdrive that may cause you to wonder, “What if I had had this pedal years ago? Would I be famous...?”
Mini Foot...Big Fuzz.
Are you looking for an overdrive that is not transparent and adds its own character and attitude? The Moonshine is for you. Our Moonshine Overdrive is a highly unique and massively tweaked version of the most famous overdrive ever created and housed in a little green enclosure. Blues, rock, country, jazz, and even hardcore/metal players will find this is an indispensable tool for shaping and creating unique mid heavy tones for almost any need.
You’ll immediately feel at home with our basic Volume, Tone, and Drive knobs, so tweak away! The simple 2-position “Proof” toggle gives you everything from low gain amp-like breakup with powerful colored boost settings to grinding, heavy overdrive that reaches to the very edge of cranked amp distortion.
In the down position, you’ll find the highest gain settings, lots of saturation and sustain and the most mid-range goo available. In the up position are the more open and forceful crunchy tones that will make any amp beg for mercy. The up position also adds more overall volume and more headroom to those searching for cleaner applications. The tone control goes down as smooth as Grandpa’s White Lightning, with none of the harsh ice-pick characteristics that many overdrives have in the brighter settings.
Just like our SuperBolt pedal, the Moonshine uses an internal 9v to 18v charge pump that allows it to run on normal 9v but converting it internally to 18v for an enormous amount of headroom, added low-end and more overall punch.
We wouldn’t be surprised if this is the most girthy, thick overdrive you have ever plugged into. If you’re a fan of stacking overdrives, you’ll love putting this in front of or behind your favorite drive, booster, or fuzz. The Moonshine delivers on any style amp, easily producing anything from SRV classic Stratocaster/Fender amp tones with class to huge “wall of rock” The Edge-style force through a Vox. On another note, you might find a few Dumble-esque lead settings that will have you feeling like you saved a cool $100,000 in search of that sacred tone. Last but not least, it kills on bass guitar, the reason it was originally designed.
There’s a lot of hype out there these days with overdrive pedals and the last thing we want to do is to add to the noise.
As you may already know, almost every boutique overdrive on the market is a modified Tubescreamer of some sort, we have decided to take a different approach.
The Morning Glory is a very transparent tone-shaping tool that is the result of several years of building, gigging, tweaking and improving on the original Marshal Bluesbreaker design. We improved vastly on the BB while maintaining what made it a great pedal in the first place. It now has around 4X more headroom, 2X the available gain and a more useful tone control. The “Bright Cut” toggle allows the perfect level of EQ for your rig.
You will notice immediately how touch sensitive and dynamic the feel of this pedal is. The frequencies are perfectly balanced and the tone knob reacts as a high frequency roll off. The drive allows you a huge range of tones from “little wing-ish” chime to classic rock era bite. If you’re a Strat player, this pedal will bring you sounds that you may have thought impossible and if you like the Les Paul, get ready to discover a new pallet of sounds that you won’t be able to live without.
With enough clean headroom to be used as a boost as well as a hefty amount of drive, this may be your go-to pedal, for good.
Simple, solid and very useful. Have you ever needed a simple mute switch with no frills? Just hit the footswitch and anything plugged into the input is made 100% silent. Has a dual color LED that shines green when signal is hot and red when the mute is on.
NOTE that this is NOT a momentary switch. When clicked, the signal stays in the position chosen.
This pedal is passive but requires standard 9V DC Negative for the LED to function and it measures 3.6"x1.5"x1"
True Bucket Brigade delay that has the tone and options to cover any style, any use and any player. The Panther Delay is our most anticipated pedal to date with it’s groundbreaker feature set including “tap tempo control” that lives within one “full second of delay time”. The foot-switchable “effects loop” allows you to place any effect or effects that you want on the repeats only. Another option is the four section “ratio control” to give you quarter, dotted eighth, eighth and triplet divisions. The built in “modulation” gives you shimmery Deluxe Memory Man type vibe and can work with tap enabled. The Panther is the first to do this! Our “chirp switch” gives you two flavors of analog: one is bright and chirpy like the vintage Boss DM-2 or Way Huge AP-1 while the other is darker and more in the background. As the user you have the ability to program an “expression control” to your favorite knob to use on the fly with no bending down required! The “Tap IN/OUT” jack lets you remotely tap in a tempo or slave another tap device for amazing live flexibility. All this and more is powered by a standard 9v supply, not a crazy hard to power voltage. Watch the brief VIDEO MANUAL / OVERVIEW movie below for an in depth explanation of all the Panthers features!
In 2011 we released the Panther Analog Delay, almost exactly two years later we tried a nearly impossible feat of taking everything we love about the Panther Delay, making a few improvements, and packaging it into a enclosure half the size. We are proud to bring to you the Panther Cub. True Bucket Brigade delay that has the tone and options to cover any style, any use, and any player. The Panther Cub Delay is our most anticipated pedal to date with it’s groundbreaker feature set including “tap tempo control” that lives within an all analog 1000 milliseconds of delay time! The “effects loop” allows you to place any effect or effects chain on the repeats only. We kept the four section “Ratio Control” to give you quarter, dotted eighth, eighth, and triplet divisions. The built in “Modulation” gives you a shimmery Deluxe Memory Man type vibe and works perfectly even with tap in use. The Panther Delay was the first to do this! The internal "Roar" switch gives you two different levels/sensitivity of oscillation and runaway. As the user you have the ability to program an “expression control” to your favorite knob to use it to change settings on the fly! The “Tap In/Out” jack lets you remotely tap in a tempo or slave another tap device for amazing live flexibility. All this and more is powered by a standard 9v supply.
Since the early days of Rock & Roll, no other pedal has made its way on more recordings, stages, and rigs than the classic Fuzz Face. The Pollinator is our take on a classic design but with some huge improvements.
The original Fuzz Face pedals have very low output volume, so we tripled the available headroom! You can achieve a wider range of tones now because even at lower gain settings, the volume you need is there. Another addition is our external bias knob. This allows you to fine-tune just the right amount of power to the perfectly hand-matched germanium AC128 transistors inside. The bass is tight and focused but still classic. The highs are as crisp as anything we’ve ever heard in a vintage design. This Fuzz cleans up better with your guitar's volume than any of our others if your into that!
Germanium fuzz with more mojo than a velvet painting of Hendrix!
In the footsteps of our long-ago discontinued Mr Magic pedal, we bring you the "final act" in boost magic...The Prestige! From buffer, to boost, to tone enhancer, the Prestige will prove to be a vital and necessary piece of gear for anyone's rig. With the boost knob set to zero, you have in your hands an amazing buffer/enhancer for long cable runs as well as a tool that will simply add some life back into your rig. When the Boost knob is in the first 25% you will get different flavors of the buffer/enhancer as well as slight volume increases. When the Boost knob is set between 25% and 50% you have a powerful, dynamic solo boost that adds definition, clarity and a little magic to your solos and lead passages. When set at 50% or more, the Prestige gives you the ability to break up your tube amp in a smooth and natural way resulting in real tube overdrive from the preamp section of your tube amp. The last 25% of the volume range can completely destroy your amp in the best way possible, resulting in rich soaring sustain, breakup, and on some amps even a smooth warm fuzzy growl.
This super small 1.5"x3.5" booster can do what needs to be done no matter what the task. If you need a little magic in your life, look no further!
Compression is the one effect that can make the difference between sounding polished and professional or just normal and part of the crowd. Most people discover that “studio” quality sound in their rigs for the first time when they add a good quality compressor. Our Pulp n Peel compressor is the perfect tool for adding dynamics, flavor and sustain no matter what rig you play.
As you may have guessed by our suave design, we based this comp off of a certain vintage design made famous back in the day. Most compressors you see are based off of the Ross/MXR design that yield very squashed high end and a lack of upper end clarity and definition. The Pulp n Peel is not. With the PnP you will find that your guitar's natural color and attack stay in place instead of being forced under a hard and un-transparent squash. Another advantage is its low noise floor and super headroom that allows it to be used as a boost in front of or behind your favorite overdrive/distortion or fuzz. The PnP excels in the fields of blues, jazz, funk and classic rock because of its natural transparency and cooperation with single coils as well as humbuckers. The controls are as simple as it gets with compression, volume and a clean blend knob to dial in your original untouched signal. The idea behind our design is that you will never want to turn it off, and if your looking for the perfect "leave-on" compressor that will make your rig sound like a million bucks, then look no further. Once you have experienced what it does to your rig, you will never be the same.
NOTE: Our blend control blends compression in. All the way up is full compression/preamp tone while rolling it backwards brings in your original uncompressed tone. One more thing, don't play with the trim pot inside of the pedal, as tempting as it is because we set that to a very specific voltage with our fancy electronic tools.
This super small little 2” box allows you to momentarily mute your signal. For years guitarist have done this by using their pickup selector on their Les Paul or even installing momentary “Kill Switch” buttons into their guitars, but now all you need to do is slap this guy on your board. No power needed as it is a totally passive device. Just tap away, and as your foot touches the switch, your signal is muted. Think of this as your own manual tremolo!
This pedal does not require power and measures 2"x2"x1"
From the inception of the Supro Company in 1935 until its closing in 1968, no other brand of amplifier has had such a fascinating, mysterious and legendary story. The Supro® amps deliver the voice of rock and roll, from Jimmy Page’s legendary Led Zeppelin recordings or Brian Setzer’s early Stray Cat tracks, to the raging rhythm tones of Switchfoot’s Drew Shirley. If you have ever played one of these vintage amps then you know nothing sounds the same. No matter how high you take the volume, the amp delivers the same smooth but cutting tone that has shaped countless recordings over its 75+year history.
The JHS SuperBolt overdrive pedal, at its heart, is a discreet circuit, designed to emulate the tone and character of the 1960’s-era Supro® amps. From its touch-sensitivity to the way the pedal sags with tube rectifier color at higher gain settings, the SuperBolt will give any guitar rig a versatile and useful new set of tones, reminiscent of some of the greatest sounds ever recorded. With 3 simple knob controls named Volume, Tone, and Drive, you will have the ability to make any guitar rig drip with vintage soul and attitude that no pedal has ever delivered- until now.
To understand how the SuperBolt operates, let’s begin with the Drive knob. As you turn up the Drive, it’s like turning the volume knob on one of these small-box vintage amps; the more you turn it up, the dirtier it gets. Next, the Volume knob acts like what some would call a master volume. None of the vintage Supro® amps had this control, but it works perfectly for letting the SuperBolt get the dirty cranked-volume tones with the Drive knob and then backing down the loudness factor with the Volume knob. The third knob is the Tone control, fairly true to the designs in many of these vintage amps. Our Tone control will serve as a breath of fresh air to all of you who are tired of the unusable and treble-ridden tone controls out there. All the way up, it is a biting and sharp tone that is extremely usable and easy on the ears; all the way back, you will find a dark but well-focused range of tones, useful for jazz and more subtle styles.
The Hi/Low toggle switch lets you toggle between Hi and Low gain settings, much like the High/Low input jacks found on many of the amps of the 50’s and 60’s. In the down (Hi) position, you’ll find huge amounts of headroom, more upper mids, more available dirt, and the most rock and roll that the pedal can offer. In the up (Low) position, cleaner sounds are available and a slightly darker and more mellow tone. The SuperBolt runs on a basic 9v supply, but internally it converts that 9v to 18v, for massive punch, headroom, and its overall powerful character. Do not attempt to power the SuperBolt with a 18v power supply.
You will notice that the overall tone is open and full, without the compression found in many overdrives on the market. It will compliment a more compressed drive beautifully, and it stacks well with everything we have tried- and we’ve tried a lot. If you love boosting your amp into natural overdrive, you have never heard anything do this like the SuperBolt. It will literally make any amp into a fire-breathing dirt machine. If you want a classic tool for your guitar rig that can handle any style you throw at it, the SuperBolt is for you. We believe this is a truly unique pedal in a world full of overdrives; get a taste of something different today!
This is our "Everything Medium to High Gain 2 in 1" and it covers all the bases from clean boost, light breakup, blues, rock, heavy grind and more.
The right side is our JHS-808 circuit. It has a smoother, more usable tone control and all the character you would expect from this classic legendary design. High quality components yield excellent bass response and lower noise than any unit on the market. The V2 now has a 3 way gain switch for 3 different vriaties of drive saturation and flavor. Even the current reissues can’t hang with this one!
On the left side is our very own “Angry Charlie”. High gain JCM 800 type “Brown” sound tone that we believe is the most accurate Marshall tone ever put in a stomp box! It has volume, drive, tone and presence controls. The presence control allows this monster to bring any amp into submission and make tone that will have ears wanting more.
The V2 now has our famous order toggle so you can choose what circuit comes first in the chain. This is great for stacking in different ways and for getting a wide range of tones.
With these tones combined or used separately, the Sweet Tea is more tone than you can shake a stick at!
From the 60’s came an effect that had a serious impact on the way guitarist expressed themselves. It was an effect that when used right had that “wow” factor, and it was a tool that helped make the “Star Spangled” banner relative to a new generation in the hands of a man named Jimi. Some of the most influential guitarist ever have consistently found a way to express their voice with this circuit, and we feel you will too.
With a large speed control that is easily controlled with your foot, changes to the speed of the effect are easy during live settings. The Speed LED blinks in time with the speed even when the unit is off so you always know what is going on inside. Controls for Depth (intensity of the effect), Volume Cut and vibrato/chorus toggle (gives you the classic chorus or vibrato settings with the flick of a switch). The Warble-Tron runs on standard 9v power and is internally turning your standard 9v into 15v, so there is no need to have a funky adapter or wall-wart power supply.
